Hi everyone, today we’re talking about proprioception and balance.
Proprioception is the body’s ability to constantly adapt to changing or unstable surfaces.
Adaptability, stability.
Exactly, those are the two key words. Let’s move on to the exercises.
You can easily find something at home — a step, a curb, a book edge, or any similar support.
The idea is to vary the levels of instability. Instability can come from your equipment — placing your foot on something uneven, or only part of your foot on a flat surface.
Then you can increase difficulty using an external object to create imbalance — either by moving it yourself or with a partner.
And another level of challenge is trying the same thing for longer or with your eyes closed.
You don’t need to keep your eyes closed for a full minute — just try moving for a few seconds, three for example. Different levels of instability to explore.
